Want to know what I’m reading? Well, I’m more of an Audible guy, here’s a list of some of my favorites:

Here’s a list of some of my favorite tools – listed by category.

Newsletters

  • AppSumo – is a deal for geeks site that offers great deals on tools that you can use to help grow your list or following.

AppSumo is a medley burrito of the greatest, geekiest products for entrepreneurs. We work tirelessly to find the most innovative, creative, and practical stuff out there and aim to bring them to you, directly and affordably. We measure our success based on yours and try our best to increase your value of life considerably. In other words, we love you. 🙂

  • Startup Digest – totally a homer here given my relationship with UP Global, but a great tool to know about startup events in your local market.
  • CBInsights – is a daily newsletter of the Venture Capital Database
  • Version One Ventures –  the Blog follows business models.
  • Tomasz Tonguz – is a VC at d that blogs at Ex Post Facto about SaaS startups.
  • Mattermark – provides funding research for private companies through multiple sources.
  • Startup Law Blog – Joe Wallin is a Seattle Lawyer that writes about startups and crowdfunding

Tools

  • Salesforce.com – there are a lot of CRM tools out there, but I have to say I still prefer Salesforce. Now because Force.com is a great resource and ultimately if you’re going to scale your company you should just pay the toll now and do it once.
  • Slack – this is a great tool for distributed teams
  • Google Docs – why would you buy office tools when you can collaborate on Google docs for free.
  • Oh Asana! I use Asana to track my tasks on projects. So when I come across a topic like “Quality Score” where I need to go and learn more information I drop the task into Asana so I don’t forget. My rule of thumb is that if it’s going to take more than 5 minutes, it’s a task to be added and not a distraction that takes me off the tasks I need to complete.

Other Resources

  • Crunchbase – this site started as a summer intern project with TechCrunch and turned into the largest crowd funded database of early stage companies.

Here’s a list of some of my favorite websites based on their unique functionality…

  • Product Hunt – is a list that showcases new products daily
